General description:
This position will support the HMTA Standards Manager at NASA/JSC. The team serves in the role of integrators and subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure NASA human spaceflight programs are given a comprehensive set of human systems standards and supporting information. The integrator position obtains and maintains broad knowledge of all human health and performance requirements and engages SMEs for the technical details. Integrators are assigned to specific human health and performance discipline areas such as crew health, environmental factors, medical operations, physiology, anthropometry, strength and biomechanics, maintenance and housekeeping, safety, habitability and architecture, information management, and displays and controls. Integrators also interface with OCHMO, HMTA and HH&P management. Human Systems Integration strategies are implemented in order to inform HMTA standards and efficiently support Human Spaceflight Programs. Lessons learned while providing support to Human Spaceflight Programs are leveraged to improve HMTA standards and strategic processes.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental plan; must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and the Company’s safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel
  • Responsible for compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan, policies and procedures
  • Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the Company
  • Responsible for completing all assigned training
  • Serve as Health and Medical Technical Authority (HMTA) Standards Integrator
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts and program requirement integrators to maintain and update HMTA Standards and supporting documentation
  • Participate in development, implementation, and execution of educational outreach strategy materials to inform users of intent, background, and application of NASA-STD-3001 and supporting documentation. Users range from human systems discipline personnel to hardware/systems developers, to managers
  • Implement and use necessary tools to support team strategy and processes, such as SharePoint and cradle
  • Provide Human Systems Integration (HSI) support to NASA customers
  • Coordinate with technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
  • Coordinate with NASA HMTA Program Delegates
  • Manage requirements trace matrix and corresponding gap analysis between HMTA standards and Program requirements
  • Provide administrative support for Standard book management and for database in Cradle. As needed, work with Cradle support team to make updates to Cradle database and to Cradle Web User Interface
  • Provide administrative support for SharePoint team worksite
  • Participate in OCHMO/HMTA meetings, HH&P meetings, and internal team meetings; develop and deliver presentations as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with NASA Technical Authority or JSC Human Health and Performance Directorate
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Ability to work and represent Exostrategies with limited local supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively in a collaborative team environment including senior management, customers, and other business leaders
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate directly with Subject Matter Experts (SME’s), and to understand enough to represent their expertise, but not to serve as the expert to the exclusion of the SME
  • Ability to effectively interact with customers at all levels
  • Strong ability to use Microsoft Office tools
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., NASA-STD-3001) and human space flight is desired
  • Ability to travel (as required)

Education requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, human systems integration, biomedical engineering, biomedical science, or related field

Available work location:

  • Houston, TX
  • Some domestic travel required
