Enterprise Architect II – USFK


Exostrategies is a small, agile professional services company that principally serves the federal government and provides affordable enterprise transformation services in anticipation of evolving threats to our nation’s critical infrastructure and operations.

General description:
The Enterprise Architect position represents a unique opportunity to join an expanding effort to support an Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence-sponsored program to improve Combatant Command (CCMD) Intelligence (CCI) Team.
The Enterprise Architect works as a member of a strong technical team in conjunction with the program office, the Enterprise Management Support Office (EMSO), and the services to develop and manage the global enterprise architecture (EA) to improve US intelligence community capabilities in support of our warfighters and coalition partners. The Enterprise Architect has three primary responsibilities:

  • Command Engagement Representative: Act as the resident embed at US Forces Korea (USFK) to foster and enhance relations
  • EA Decision Support: Integration into a larger Enterprise of Enterprises architecture supporting OUSD(I), Combatant Commanders, CCMD J2s, and other intelligence community partners to improve intelligence capabilities
  • Architecture Analyst: Use architecture data to support decision makers, strategic roadmaps, programs and projects, and others to maximize intelligence capabilities, reduce risk, and manage transitional activities

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Work with functional subject matter experts to collect and describe operational and system processes; nodes; activities; and associated inputs, controls, outputs, and mechanisms to fully understand the architecture’s business process workflows and identify the enablers that support each
  • Work with CCI EA personnel to provide input on OUSD(I) recommended revisions or updates to architectures, functional and non-functional requirements development for operational capabilities, and non-materiel solution implementation efforts
  • Identify, develop, document, and recommend enterprise-level risks having potential impact on the enterprise and on the implementation and achievement of capabilities
  • Research, develop, document, and analyze architecture views and data to identify capability gaps, overlaps, and shortfall
  • Research, develop, and document various enterprise-level architectures for integration into an enterprise architecture in support of the CCIIT community
  • Prepare, staff, and publish formal USFK architecture views and data; when applicable, views and data should be compliant with the DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF)
  • Recommend and participate in the analysis, evaluation, and development of strategic and operating plans to support the CCMD’s EA objectives
  • Conduct strategic architecture branch staff actions (tasks, papers, briefings, etc.)
  • Determine and recommend architectural, information technology, or process solutions; research and develop other architecture-related documents and plans
  • Participate in DoD enterprise architecture conferences; generate minutes and capture key action items


  • 5 years of related experience
  • Background in DoD intelligence IT systems and capabilities
  • Familiarity with U.S. CCMDs (required), Joint Staff (desired), and NATO (desired)
  • Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks, best practices, and goals (DoDAF 2.0, Zachman Framework, FEAC Institute, TOGAF, UPDM, or UAF)
  • Experience with modeling standards and languages appropriate to software software-intensive systems, such as BPMN, BPML, UML, SysML, and derivatives
  • Experience with enterprise architecture diagramming tools such as Architex, HOPEX, and Sparx EA
  • Experience in enterprise risk management and project planning
  • Ability to work and represent Exostrategies with limited local supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively in a collaborative team environment including senior management, customers, and other business leaders
  • Ability to lead and manage small technical teams with limited oversight
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate directly with customers
  • Ability to travel (as required)

Education requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, information technology, business, or other related area of study
  • Master’s degree is desired

Security clearance requirement:

  • Active U.S. government Top Secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI)
